The north-east coast as it was before resorts: a wind-blown public beach under casuarina trees, a fishing village, and a coast road with almost no traffic.

There is nothing to do here, which is the point. A public beach with shade, rock pools at the point, fishermen selling off the boat, and a road along the coast to Roches Noires that you can have to yourself. It is the antidote to Grand Baie.
Free. The beach is on the coast road between Roches Noires and Belle Mare. Windy from June onward, which brings the kitesurfers; a picnic spot the rest of the year. Bring everything, there is one shop.
