The north's resort town: the base for boat trips, the bazaar, the bars and most of the island's nightlife. Not a beach you come for, but the place everything leaves from.

Grand Baie is not pretty and does not need to be. It is where the catamarans to the northern islands leave, where the bazaar sells everything, where the restaurants and bars are, and where you will end up if you stay in the north. The bay at sunset, with the boats at anchor, is better than the town.
Free. The bazaar is open daily; the boat trips leave from the public jetty and the La Cuvette beach. For an actual beach use Pereybere or Mont Choisy, both ten minutes away. Traffic in the evening is real; walk.
